Chika Takami starts her 2nd year of high school, and she is determined to create a school idol club at her school after getting inspired by seeing the previous Love Live... Some grey-haired girl is helping her... You-chan, Chika's friend... She can't join though because she's already in the swimming club.
Chika isn't having any luck at all... she comes across a couple of very pretty 1st-years and asks them to join.. Ruby, the red-haired girl turns red when Chika calls her cute... the friend says she is very shy... Then some random dark-blue haired girl jumps in on them, pretending to be some kind of dark angel... Ruby's friend recognizes her as Yoshika, her friend from kindergarten or something... Yoshika tries to pretend she doesn't know what she's talking about and keeps acting weird...
Chika thinks she can probably recruit these 3 people later... then she meets a black haired 3rd year girl with mole, who is also the student council president... This girl hates school idol clubs for some reason, thinks they are silly and a waste of time, so she tells Chika she will not approve of this club no matter what.
That evening, Chika and You meet some blue haired girl who knows them, they eat together or something... Then later when Chika is walking around by herself she sees some long-red-haired girl about to jump into the cold ocean... Riko introduces herself, and says she wanted to hear the ocean in order to help compose a song she's writing for the piano... Chika tells her about school idols and why she is so obsessed with them... Riko says she's from Otonokizaka, the same school the first series took place in...
Then at the end of the episode, Chika is depressed when she realizes she doesn't know anybody at this school who is good at writing songs... and then Chika's class has a new transfer student, it's Riko... she happened to switch schools at this exact time for some reason. Chika invites her to join the school idol club, and she declines...

That first episode felt like it did a really rushed job of introducing all the main characters... I couldn't really retain most of it, but I did at least get an idea of which characters are the 1st year, 2nd year, and 3rd year characters.
Episode 02 - Catch the Transfer Student!
Chiki keeps on bugging Riko to join, and she keeps apologizing and declining... You-chan helps Chika out by designing some costume ideas and flyers...
Dio (the student councilor) starts arguing with Chika and You when she finds out that Chika is a fan of muse. Dio actually knows quite a lot about muse and quizzes them on various things. During this argument, Chika accidentally activates the school-wide intercom device, and the whole school learns that Dio is a muse fan.
Later, Chika meets those 1st year girls again to try to recruit them... Ruby is hiding behind a tree and Chika uses candy to lure her out... Hanamaru has a really weird gimmick where she ends every sentence in "zura"... oh and Ruby explains that she can't join Chika because her older sister, Dio, is against it. Ruby's gimmick seems to be that she acts like a timid 5 year old who can be lured out with candy...
The rest of this episode is really sweet... Chika happens to run into Riko again near the ocean. Riko thinks she's just trying to recruit her again, but Chika wants to help her hear the ocean to get her inspiration back... The next day Chika takes Riko to that older blue haired girl's place, and they go diving... Chika and You-chan help Riko find the sound of the ocean...
Riko agrees to help Chika write music for her idol club, but doesn't agree to joining... Then they all go to stay over at the inn owned by Chika's family to start working on a song. Riko tells Chika she needs lyrics, and Chika struggles to find anything... They want to do a love song, but none of them have any love experience, and Chika just starts researching muse some more... Riko mentions that Chika really loves school idols a lot, and realizes that's what Chika needs to write about... The way that Chika described her love for school idols to her in the first episode... She really has a way with words when it comes to this thing that she is really passionate about.
That night, Riko is thinking about Chika's words and her own passion for playing the piano and how she recently had lost it... after listening to "Yume no Tobira", she started playing that on her piano while singing along with it... Chika overhears her, and convinces her to join by saying she can get her inspiration for the piano back.

Episode 03 - First Step
Some really good feels in this episode...
The 3 school idol members are practicing, when suddenly a helicopter comes up to them, and they get greeted by Mari... That blonde foreign girl that has barely gotten any screen time so far... She's familiar enough with Dio that she's grabbing her breasts and stuff... She has a rich family who is a major contributor of Uranohoshi academy, and she came to support the creation of this school idol group. She says they can start their club even without 5 members, but only if they can manage to fill up the school gym with an audience for their first concert.
Now they are going around passing out flyers... That weird Yohane girl wearing a mask comes and takes a flyer and runs away... Chika gives a flyer to Hanamaru and Ruby... Ruby asks what their group name is, and Chika realized they don't even have a name yet...
Now they are walking around on the beach, writing names in the sand until they can come up with something... Riko suggests "The Three Mermaids", since they met near the ocean, but nobody else likes that name... then they come across a word that none of them wrote... Aqours.
Chika's older sister agrees to help promote their concert.. when they go on stage, they find that only a small group of people have showed up, mostly the people the main characters know... Some of the other characters like Dio and that older blue haired girl are there too, standing outside in the rain for some reason... Despite the small group, Chika and the others stay motivated and put on their performance... but then half-way through the power goes out.
They're just standing there in awkward silence, not knowing what to do... Finally Chika starts timidly resuming their song, and the other two join in... But Chika is barely holding back her tears... Suddenly the power goes back on, and just at that exact moment, Chika's sister comes and brings the rest of the audience, saying they got the starting time wrong... Then they put on the rest of their performance...

Episode 04 - Two Girls' Feelings
Some Hanamaru/Ruby backstory... Hanamaru is kind of an introvert and her only friend is Ruby...
Chika comes to see them and tries to push them into becoming idols again.. but You-chan and Riko say she's being to pushy...
Hanamaru can tell that Ruby wants to join them.. Ruby says she's not allowed to like school idols because of her sister... Dia used to like school idols, but as soon as she got into high school she started hating them for some reason. Ruby says she might consider it but only if Hanamaru does it too.
Mari comes to the diving area to meet Kanan, the older blue haired girl. they are already familiar with each other... Mari is trying to get Kanan to become a school idol.
While looking through a muse photobook, Ruby gets flashbacks of her and Dia... Ruby was a Hanayo fan and Dia preferred Eli. Hanamaru is looking through a muse photobook as well... Thinking to herself she can't possibly do this... but she starts to feel something different when she looks into Rin's eyes.. She tells Ruby she's going to join Aqours, and convinces Ruby to come with her...
Chika is totally pumped now... She's been wanting to get these 2 cute girls on her side since the beginning. She thinks now that these 2 are with them they'll win Love Live for sure.
The 5 of them start practicing together. When they go to run up the temple stairs, Hanamaru stays behind and tells Ruby not to hold back for her sake... Then she goes and talks to Dia.. Later, Ruby and the others run into Dia and Ruby explains to her that she wants to be a school idol.
Hanamaru says her job is now done, and she decides to go back to being alone with her books... but Ruby wants Hanamaru to be a school idol along with her... She convinces Hanamaru that she actually likes school idols as much as Ruby does... Chika tells her that it's not whether she can do it or not that matters, it's whether she wants to... Hanamaru officially joins as well.
Now there's still that mysterious Yohane girl, and the 3 third-year girls which I have no idea how they'll end up joining... Mari will probably have something to do with it.
