a boring episode where they go to see a circus at central town, which is really pointless since these kids can all do more amazing things than the circus performers... seeing these people/animals perform inspired Mikan to try to tell the other students not to use their alices in a sport competition, she got in trouble for saying that... Luca seeing one of the lions being mistreated reminded him of how Persona treats Natsume.. there was some backstory where Natsume's house caught on fire and he lost his family..
the episode ends on a cliffhanger where the circus ringleader, an ex-Alice student, is about to tell Luca what exactly this academy is forcing Natsume to do..
Episode 24 - Mr. Narumi's Lie
Natsume is being forced to use his alice to help out the military or something... all of the alice gakuen graduates eventually blend into society as people high up in power.. Narumi is one of them.
"The Dangerous ability class is just a name the academy made up to hide activities they don't want the outside world knowing about."
The circus leader also tells Luca about this woman who was fighting to free the academy students... he and Narumi were with her, but Narumi betrayed them.
flashes back to when Mikan was talking to Narumi, asking if people would be better off without their alices..
"Not at all... But you know... when I was a student, there was someone who said the same kind of things as you... they didn't say anything bad, but they criticized the academy."
Luca beats up Persona to save Natsume from being drugged and taken on another mission.. they lock themselves up in a classroom, not letting anyone in until they can guarantee Natsume's safety.. Narumi shows up and tries to reason with them.. Mikan believes him when he says that he'll make sure Natsume is safe, but Luca doesn't trust him at all.. Luca turns out to be right (although they really seem to want you to think Narumi is actually trying to help but can't)...
The whole class hates Narumi now and they refuse to attend..
Hotaru's brother and some female student come to try and reason with Mikan and the others... Luca argues with them and finds out they know all about what they're making Natsume do and they refuse to help him... even Hotaru is getting mad at this point.
Now the circus guys are unleashing the lions and are about to take action against the academy.
Episode 25 - Take Back the Academy
Luca started commanding the circus animals to rampage against the school so he could save Natsume, and now Mikan and the others all think he is going to far, so they side with Narumi and Hotaru's brother instead in this case. It turns out Leo, the circus leader, has some kind of brainwashing alice and he's making Luca do this... Mikan's voice almost snaps him out of it, but Leo's brainwashing is too powerful.. the lions start attacking Jinno and Narumi.. suddenly Natsume shows up in a burst of flames and slaps sense into Luca.
Now Luca and Natsume are about to go and stop Leo, who is now brainwashing all of the students in the academy.. Hotaru knocks them out with a lobster punch device and then gives them earplugs..
Mikan wants to use her alice to help stop Leo, but Narumi insists he take care of it himself and Mikan should instead use her powers to help out the students who are fighting each other.
Of course, Mikan and the others go to help out anyway... they find where Narumi and Leo are.. Leo tries using his powers on them but Mikan nullifies it.. then the mind reader kid starts mind-fucking Leo after he pulls out a gun...
I guess you're a child after all. Your thoughts are so superficial. You're dead wrong if you think you can do anything with your Alice. That's all this school can do. I suppose I should go ahead and wrap this up...
A mind-reading alice, huh? What could that weak Alice do now... I've trained my voice pheremones for years alongside Naru-sempai. We were always together back then. Until he betrayed me... I trusted him. More than anyone. Why did he betray me? I... I always trusted you and her... To be betrayed by you..
Finally Leo gets pissed and tries to dropkick the kid, and Narumi jumps on him.. Tsubasa uses his shadow alice to stop the guards from interfering.
Narumi starts lecturing Leo about how this place is a necessity for people with Alices.. and that we should try to change the academy rather than destroy it.
Natsume sides with Narumi now too..
Leo gets desperate and starts using a forbidden technique of using his voice pheremones on himself.. self-suggestion.. Mikan's nullification powers won't work on someone using this... Narumi defeats Leo by hugging him and saying he has a great alice.. afterwards Leo explains to his guards that Narumi defeated him without using his alice..
this episode is really good..
Episode 26 - Friendship is Endless
Mikan failed the exam and has to re-take it, and if she doesn't pass she might be dropped to the little kids class A..
Otonoshi is graduating to the Junior school.. I think I remember this from the manga but not really.
Mikan is mad when she hears that Hotaru might be leaving the school to do research for a company.. Hotaru comes and tells her that she'll be doing research after finishing this grade.. and Mikan assumes it means she'll be leaving.. just like last time when she left without telling her... Mikan doesn't attend the graduation ceremony, and Natsume finds her near some sakura trees... she asks him what he would do if Luca decided to leave without telling him.. he probably wouldn't say anything.
Mikan writes a farewell letter to Hotaru, but when she goes to her room, it's already empty... a robot turtle is there with a letter for Mikan.. just a think to help her with her studying..
Mikan has to go and write her exam, and the others all say they'll go look for Hotaru for her, so that they can stop her and make her say goodbye before leaving...
even Natsume and Luca step in to try and stop Hotaru.. but Hotaru makes Luca and the giant bird go away by spreading around that embarrassing picture she always used to bargain with him..
love the weird slapstick shit that Hotaru always does even in the most serious of situations... of course it turns out that Hotaru isn't actually leaving the academy, she's just moving to a different dorm building.

that was a really sweet ending... The manga story stretches out a lot longer than this, but this was pretty satisfying the way they ended it.
