Love Live! Sunshine!! series recaps part 1/4

Episode 01 - I Want to Shine!!
Chika Takami starts her 2nd year of high school, and she is determined to create a school idol club at her school after getting inspired by seeing the previous Love Live... Some grey-haired girl is helping her... You-chan, Chika's friend... She can't join though because she's already in the swimming club.

Chika isn't having any luck at all... she comes across a couple of very pretty 1st-years and asks them to join.. Ruby, the red-haired girl turns red when Chika calls her cute... the friend says she is very shy... Then some random dark-blue haired girl jumps in on them, pretending to be some kind of dark angel... Ruby's friend recognizes her as Yoshika, her friend from kindergarten or something... Yoshika tries to pretend she doesn't know what she's talking about and keeps acting weird...

Chika thinks she can probably recruit these 3 people later... then she meets a black haired 3rd year girl with mole, who is also the student council president... This girl hates school idol clubs for some reason, thinks they are silly and a waste of time, so she tells Chika she will not approve of this club no matter what.

That evening, Chika and You meet some blue haired girl who knows them, they eat together or something... Then later when Chika is walking around by herself she sees some long-red-haired girl about to jump into the cold ocean... Riko introduces herself, and says she wanted to hear the ocean in order to help compose a song she's writing for the piano... Chika tells her about school idols and why she is so obsessed with them... Riko says she's from Otonokizaka, the same school the first series took place in...

Then at the end of the episode, Chika is depressed when she realizes she doesn't know anybody at this school who is good at writing songs... and then Chika's class has a new transfer student, it's Riko... she happened to switch schools at this exact time for some reason. Chika invites her to join the school idol club, and she declines...

Kure-nai series recaps part 2/3

I'm starting to get really annoyed by the voice acting in this show... I dunno like... it feels very stiff... and the little girl sounds way too mature. Other than that it's good.

Episode 05 - Wish
Shinkuro takes Murasaki with him to his friend's house to practice martial arts... That girl who knew the Kouhouin family, she's part of a family of assassins or something... Murasaki learns about the cultural meaning of a "Sunday"... I didn't pay much attention but it seemed like nothing much happened.

Episode 06 - Light Shines Over Your Head, Doesn't it?
This episode is really weird...
Shinkuro and his girlfiend, and his neighbors all rehearse a musical play... but the gf and the creepy woman are really bad at singing. That woman who is watching Shinkuro and Murasaki gets roped into helping the creepy woman learn how to sing... and Shinkuro helps teach his gf how to sing by singing a duet with her...

At then end they have this weird song + dance scene in the apartment (with awkward 5fps animation), and Benika comes and reveals this was all part of her plan to help the spy woman make friends with the others, or something...

btw I really hate that other neighbor woman... the "onee-san" one... such an overdone character type...

Kara no Kyoukai: Mirai Fukuin movie recap

Kara no Kyoukai: The Garden of Sinners - Recalled out Summer box cover art

- Recalled out Summer -

There's this girl who can see the future with one of her eyes... she knows everything that is about to happen, and knows that there's nothing anyone can do to change it... also the intro is some vague scene where Shiki comes to a parking lot looking for a bomber, and then an explosion occurs which Shiki can't fight off and the knife falls out of her hand...

At first, it sounds like a guy who is describing this... but later it turns out to be a girl at Reien Academy... This girl is leaving the school to visit her dad... She is aware of 2 different versions of herself, the one in the present and the one in the future... She feels like she has no agency whatsoever because of her power...

Then as she gets off the bus, she immediately has a vision about someone getting run over by a car... She tries calling out to that person, telling him not to go that way, but he won't listen... Just then, Mikiya Kokuto appears as a random curious stranger and gets in the middle of this dispute. He listens to the girl and then says he'll go and try to stop that guy from being in danger... then an explosion occurs at a nearby building... The girl is really confused by all of this stuff that is happening that she didn't see coming... Now she's just cowering in fear... Kokuto eventually comes back to her and says she was right, and that he barely managed to save that guy from the accident.

Seo Shizune introduces herself to Kokuto...

Next, you see some guy tinkering with bomb materials... It's that guy from the beginning... He also has the same power that Shizune has... his right eye sees his desired outcome, and his left eye sees exactly how to bring that outcome to fruition.

Next is a scene where Aozaki, Kokuto, and Shiki are at some fancy party.. Shiki is bored and goes outside... She sees someone and tells him it's dangerous over there... he walks away, and then an explosion occurs nearby...

The bomber guy thinks to himself...
How did that woman know something dangerous was going to happen at the hotel?
Later, Shiki is talking to Aozaki about this bomberman.. saying he seems to be able to plan ahead way too well.. she almost got killed by a bomb that she just happened to come

Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva - movie recap

This turned out to be a lot better than I was expecting...

It starts off showing Layton, Luke, and Flora just concluding a case and catching Don Paulo... Then Luke starts describing the story of when they were invited to a theatre by an opera singer... This woman's friend, Melina, has somehow returned but is now in the body of a little girl.. that girl says she was given the gift of eternal life...

Layton explains the legend of the "Ambrosia" people, who used to worship their queen and her beautiful singing voice.. but then one day that queen got sick and died... Shortly after she died, they invented an eternal life elixer. so they all started taking the elixer and waiting for their queen to revive...

At the end of the performance, some unknown person takes over the stage and tells everyone they are about to play a game where the winner gets granted eternal life, and the losers will lose their lives... Inspector Grosky is there and he tries to arrest this person, but that person turns out to be a decoy balloon figure.. The whole theatre suddenly turns into a boat and they are now sailing through shark-infested waters, and being forced to play this game...

Puzzle 001: Find the oldest thing you can see. Layton realizes that doesn't specifically say it has to be on the ship, and he and a bunch of other people go to where they can see the stars in the sky...
Puzzle 002: Find the biggest crown on this ship. Luke thinks he has solved this puzzle and yells out that the solution is that big crown at the entrance... but Layton has other ideas... he takes Luke and Janice out to the dock, where a bunch of other passengers had the same idea as him... one of the passengers is treating everyone else as enemies and wanted to trick people into going to the wrong solution... They all get onto lifeboats and start rowing away from the theatre ship, until eventually they see that the ship itself is in the shape of a giant crown.

Layton, Luke, and Janice are all on the same boat as the orchestra player and Melinda... The orchestra player is the original Melinda's father, and he says that he adopted this girl because she reminded him of her... He doesn't seem to be on the same side as the villain, but this

Gakuen Alice manga recap/log part 2

Resuming my log/recap of the Gakuen Alice manga. This is after I started and got near the end of the Gakuen Alice anime, but at this point the manga's story has deviated a lot from the anime and isgoing a lot further than where the anime ends at.

Mikan somehow fully recovered by using an alice stone she was carrying... everyone theorized that Mikan had some sort of Alice-stealing powers, but she couldn't replicate it after she woke up...

Gakuen Alice high session 6 (finale)

Episode 23 - The Circus is Here
a boring episode where they go to see a circus at central town, which is really pointless since these kids can all do more amazing things than the circus performers... seeing these people/animals perform inspired Mikan to try to tell the other students not to use their alices in a sport competition, she got in trouble for saying that... Luca seeing one of the lions being mistreated reminded him of how Persona treats Natsume.. there was some backstory where Natsume's house caught on fire and he lost his family..
Gakuen Alice screenshot Gakuen Alice screenshot

the episode ends on a cliffhanger where the circus ringleader, an ex-Alice student, is about to tell Luca what exactly this academy is forcing Natsume to do..

Episode 24 - Mr. Narumi's Lie

Natsume is being forced to use his alice to help out the military or something... all of the alice gakuen graduates eventually blend into society as people high up in power.. Narumi is one of them.
"The Dangerous ability class is just a name the academy made up to hide activities they don't want the outside world knowing about."

The circus leader also tells Luca about this woman who was fighting to free the academy students... he and Narumi were with her, but Narumi betrayed them.
flashes back to when Mikan was talking to Narumi, asking if people would be better off without their alices..
"Not at all... But you know... when I was a student, there was someone who said the same kind of things as you... they didn't say anything bad, but they criticized the academy."

Luca beats up Persona to save Natsume from being drugged and taken on another mission.. they lock themselves up in a classroom, not letting anyone in until they can guarantee Natsume's safety.. Narumi shows up and tries to reason with them.. Mikan believes him when he says that he'll make sure Natsume is safe, but Luca doesn't trust him at all.. Luca turns out to be right (although they really seem to want you to think Narumi is actually trying to help but can't)...
The whole class hates Narumi now and they refuse to attend..
