Wow, this plot takes a turn here...
They are now hiding out in a hotel... Shinkuro is telling Benika he has doubts about being able to do this job anymore, and also tells her that he learned that Murasaki might not even be a Kouhouin child...
Benika tells him about how the Kouhouins are a family that only breeds amongst themselves... The girls in the family are forced to live in the inner sanctuary, isolated from the outside world, until they become old enough to breed... and even after that they are still forced to live in the inner sanctuary until they die... The males of the family breed with their sisters in the inner sanctuary, then they marry a woman from outside the family to pretend that woman is their child's mother...
So... the woman that died in front of Murasaki... was that her real mother or her stepmother?
Shinkuro ends up convincing himself that he'll protect Murasaki no matter what... He then takes her back to the apartment so she can say goodbye to their neighbors and spend time with them one last time... Later, Shinkuro tells Murasaki about how his parents got killed by terrorists, and because of that he made himself into a monster.. Murasaki has incredible wisdom here, and tells Shinkuro that they are both in the same boat, and that the dead won't come back no matter how much you cry...
As expected, Murasaki's big brother comes and beats up Shinkuro, and forces Murasaki to tell Shinkuro that she must go back to the inner sanctuary, but she obviously doesn't...

Episode 10 - Accustomed Fear
Not much happens in this episode... Benika's subordinate consoles Shinkuro, and tells him that she too once failed one of Benika's job and the guy she was guarding got killed... At least Murasaki is still alive.
Murasaki's dad wants to wait until spring before moving Murasaki back to the inner sanctuary, but the older guy is having none of it.
Shinkuro convinces himself that he failed this job and he just has to move on and focus on other jobs... but his friends at school and his neighbors both think it's unlike him to quit like this... Finally he changes his mind and calls Benika over... Benika tells him that the job was only to allow Murasaki to see the outside world and fall in love with someone, and that job was successful... but Shinkuro still wants to protect her... he convinces Benika to help him get to the Kouhouin mansion.
