One Punch Man season 1 recap

One Punch Man box cover art

Episode 1 - The Strongest Man
This is so ridiculous... a very boring character with a boring backstory and boring motivations defeats some crazy powerful supervillain monsters in one punch...

Episode 2 - The Lone Cyborg
Mosquito queen commands all the mosquitos to get blood for her, and she turns super powerful... some cyborg superhero guy is going after her, and fails to defeat her, then he sees Saitama defeat her easily in one punch... the cyborg Genus then becomes Saitama's apprentice. He babbles on a lot with his backstory until Saitama stops him and tells him to sum it up in 20 words or less...

Then we see the villain who was in charge of that mosquito lady... he sends a bunch of other monsters to try and capture Saitama after seeing how strong he is.

Episode 3 - The Obsessive Scientist
The villain is some old guy who dedicated his life to researching human evolution.. he eventually discovered some way to create evolved humans, and made clones of himself and started running a monster laboratory... the ultimate monster he created was supposed to be unbeatable, and it looked like Saitama was actually worried when this monster turned to his "rampage mode"... but actually he was just worried because he realized what day it was.

Episode 4 - The Modern Ninja
This ninja character...
"Speed 'o Sound Sonic? Who is that? and who would possess such a redundant name?"

Saitama is depressed now that he realizes he's completely unknown as a hero, despite all the bad guys he's defeated... so the cyborg suggests they both go and register for the Hero's Association...

Episode 5 - The Ultimate Master
It's really hilarious how this organization sees Genos the cyborg as the main hero guy that they are interested in, and Saitama is just a random nobody they don't care about... but later one of the upper guys talks about how Saitama broke every record on the physical portion of the exam, and did terrible on the written portion and just barely passed... they theorize that he is some kind of god...

The story is getting pretty decent now, but it's still just too silly to bother commenting on most of it.

Episode 6 - The Terrifying City
Saitama is still having trouble making himself known and moving up through the hero rankings... and it introduces some green haired girl who is in the S class, who is angry that she never gets to go on any missions because they don't need S heroes that often...

Episode 7 - The Ultimate Disciple
Genos is called for a 'threat level Dragon' problem when a meteor is about to hit a city... him and the other class S hero Metal Knight both fail to take it down, and then Saitama comes in and destroys it... but that still results in the city taking a ton of damage. Later, a couple of heroes start harrassing Saitama and making everyone think the city's destruction was his fault... Saitama just doesn't care and says he'll continue to be a hero anyway, even if everyone hates him. Genos comes and sees this, and is amazed at what a great hero Saitama is.

Episode 8 - The Deep Sea King
The story is all just serious business by now... the other heroes are all struggling to fight this incredibly powerful seafolk monster... Saitama doesn't even get involved until right at the end.

Episode 9 - Unyielding Justice
Saitama was asked by the administration to help take down this high level Deep Sea King.. they already know there's more to him than people assume.. and by that point, Genos was already fighting the monster toe-to-toe, and was holding his own against him, until he had to jump in front of an acid attack to save a little girl...

Then Mamen Rider, the fearless but weak hero at the top of the C class, jumps in to try fighting, and is completely useless... all the civilians are cheering him on regardless... Saitama shows up just as Rider and Genos are about to be finished off...

The civilians actually recognize him now, as the rank 2 C class hero, and one of them points out how the monster's direct punch to his head didn't even affect him. Everyone cheers when he defeats the monster in one punch...

"Huh... that was lame. I had my hopes up."
later, Saitama opens his first fan letter.. from someone calling him a rotten cheater.

It shows what happened after the monster was killed. One civilian claimed Saitama must've cheated, or that this monster wasn't very strong at all... Saitama just laughs, and tells them that he was able to beat the monster only because the other heroes had worn it down so much, and he just took the credit for it.

... however, he did get another letter saying thanks for saving him... it was from Mumen Rider.

The association moved Saitama up to rank 1 of class C, and had a meeting to consider moving him up to class B... They said the rumors about him cheating were just rumors, and that if he really is cheating, he won't make it through the B class that way.

Episode 10 - Unparalleled Peril That green haired girl, who rarely ever appears, was sent to take out this giant lizard monster... it seems like she's only used for top-level military missions or something. Next, the association holds an emergency meeting with all the class S members.. Genos takes Saitama along with him because he thinks his help might be needed... All of the class S members are there except for 2 of them. The green haired girl is angry that a class B member has joined in, but Saitama just ignores her and casually sips tea. The meeting organizer talks about Madame Shibabawa, a fortune teller who the class S members all know about, having died recently due to choking on a cough drop. Now they won't be able to predict disasters as easily... but the main problem, was her final prophecy she made as she choked on that cough drop... she only left a note saying "The Earth is in trouble" suddenly, the Hero Association is attacked by some flying demon people, under the command of the Sky King... but then, an even greater evil shows up right behind them and destroys them... some terrifying disfigured clay person that can split himself and put himself back together... some of the S heroes have already started fighting him... "So there is a life form on this planet that can fight. Excellent! Try to withstand our invasion!" meanwhile Saitama has gone to check out the spaceship this being came on. City A has already been completely destroyed by this thing, with the association building the only thing left standing... "Threat level dragon?" "No, this level might be... God." Genos is arguing with Tornado, the green haired lady, about how to take out the spaceship... he thinks to himself... "There is no need to team up anyway. Master has already boarded the enemy ship. Whether this is the prophecy or not, there is not a single evil Master cannot defeat. If such an evil existed, then I assume the human race would have perished long ago." it ends with showing Saitama rampaging through the spaceship, taking down everything in his way... wondering where the boss is... then it shows what I assume is the leader of this enemy sitting on a throne. Episode 11 - The Dominator of the Universe The S heroes are actually doing some damage now... one of them found out the weakpoint of that duplicating clay monster, and have started to turn that battle around... when the spaceship fired off a barrage of missiles their way, Tornado used her psychic powers to stop the missiles and send them back. Meanwhile, Saitama has all the commanders on the ship afraid of him now, and he forces them to give him directions to their leader, who has been watching this whole time. "This planet's finest warrior... I can sense no limit to his energy." "I lead the pirate band known as Dark Matter, and am Dominator of the Universe. I am Boros." He explains that he learned of a prophecy of a being on a far away planet who could match him in a fight... just like Saitama, he has gotten bored of his godly strength and is seeking a true challenge. "Come. Give stimulation to my existence. That is why I am here!" Saitama blows him against the wall in one punch. "Are you stupid? You can't go around destroying planets just because you're bored." Saitama's punch doesn't defeat him though... his armor, which is used to seal his immeasurable power, is the only thing that was destroyed by it. Saitama has the most hilarious bored poker face look on him, as Boros charges up to full power... Episode 12 - The Strongest Hero So far it seems like Saitama and Boros are evenly matched... he managed to get a direct hit on Saitama's head... then he regenerated himself... he thinks because he can regenerate, and Saitama can't, that should tip the scales in his favor. He then charges up a special extra powerful attack... "Meteoric Burst!" He hits Saitama with a force so powerful that its knockback reaches throughout the spaceship and kills a lot of his allies... "The energy shunted from my body transforms into a propelling force, elevating speed and power to a level beyond the limitations of living flesh!" Saitama gets batted around like a tennis ball, and literally ends up on the moon... and STILL has that bored look on his face, like non of this even matters... he then takes steady aim and leaps back to earth from the moon.. Saitama somehow has pinpoint accuracy and jumps right back to where Boros is to resume the fight... Boros now knows that he has to go all out... since this extra form he took on was his final trump card, it's like a super saiyan 3 thing where using it drains your life... Saitama starts taking him apart with "Consecutive normal punches"... but it's not enough, he just immediately regenerates. Boros puts all his energy into one final attack... "Collapsing Star, Roaring Cannon!" This animation looks insane... "In that case, I'm using my final move too. Killer Move: Series Series... Serious Punch." ... after a shockwave big enough to spread across the whole planet... Boros is the one that falls... he realizes Saitama wasn't even going all out in that fight. "I never stood a chance. It wasn't even a battle." The spaceship crashes down to the ruined city... Amai Mask, that pop idol guy, shows up at that point to admonish the class S heroes for what a terrible job they've done protecting this city... This guy is the rank 1 in class A, and says he's staying there instead of moving up to class S, so that he can have more influence over deciding who gets to be in class S. This guy doesn't seem like much of a hero... also I heard one of the class S members mention to Genos that Metal Knight (who was absent from the meeting and this whole event), is an enemy... Just then, Metal Knight shows up as well... he's only here to gather weapons from this spaceship. Genos says that him and Amai remind him of his self before he met Saitama.
