oh wow, I forgot how cute this opening was.
the first ep covers the time when Hotaru had to transfer to Alice Gakuen in order to save her old school from being shut down... and then 2 years later Mikan learns about Hotaru's reason for leaving, and she runs away to go and meet her, and the teacher sees her and notices his powers didn't work on her, so he lets her take the entrance exam. pretty much the same as the manga so far... Mikan has a wierd Osakan accent.

Episode 2 - Welcome to Alice Academy
Mikan is in a room alone with an unconscious Natsume... some biology teacher comes in and explains to her that Narumi is a weirdo but not a dangerous guy, and says that Natsume IS dangerous and she should press the emergency alarm if she sees him open his eyes... then Natsume wakes up and threatens her to tell him who she is...
Luca crashes in threw the window and by then, Natsume realized he couldn't use his power for some reason so now he's just bullying her and taking off her skirt... Mikan overreacts and bawls her eyes out, saying now she can't get married anymore. Narumi cheers her up by bringing her a new uniform, and says she will be accepted as long as she passes the "easy" test of getting her classmates to accept her.
When Mikan meets Hotaru again for the first time in years... it's an overly dramatic seen expressing Mikan's happiness and Hotaru's confusing... Hotaru is just as cold and direct with her as ever. Mikan can't hold back her tears and has to force herself to smile to keep her promise to Hotaru...

Episode 3 - I Won't Lose To An Alice
Mikan is nervous about fitting into her new class, since Hotaru wants to pretend they are strangers so she can get the honor student reward... then she gets a seat next to Natsume and Luca... the class is stunned as she yells at him and insults him, not even caring about how dangerous he is... one of Natsume's fans lifts her up in the air... I guess her neutralizing alice doesn't work that well yet.
Natsume's fans don't even want to be in this school, so they don't care how badly they act, knowing that being expelled would be a good thing... I guess the more behaved students are the ones like Hotaru who still care about their loved ones outside of the school... a bunch of kids bully Mikan, who is the only one not wearing any stars on her uniform, to get her to tell them what her alice is. the mind reader kid figures it out and tells everyone.
Mikan starts to get angry, and says that she must have an alice because Narumi said so... and that she doesn't see normal people as being lower than people with alices...
"Following your way of thinking, you'd be relying on them to do all your work, making you worthless!"
some guy is about to punch her, then Hotaru comes and socks him with a horseshoe.. "don't go meddling in other people's business... because the only person allowed to make this dummy cry is me."
"So much for the honor student award... it's all your fault."
Iinchou goes to take Mikan to visit Hotaru's lab, tells her she has the invention alice, and that she wanted the honor student award in order to gain the ability to see her best friend, Mikan... this lab even has a Mikan robot that she made for stress relief... its feature is that it'll always smile no matter how much you bully it. Hotaru then says she'll forgive her for making her lose out on the honor student award, but won't forgive for the meal ticket she lost out on, and says she can pay her back through manual labor since she doesn't have any 'rabbits'...
Later the class finds out that Mikan is only a student temporarily unless she can manage to win over the class... Natsume taunts her, saying they won't accept her unless she can prove her alice to them... he suggests she go through the northern woods, and if she can come back safely they'll admit she must have an alice. Natsume is nice about it and even lets her bring someone to escort her since she's still new here... Hotaru quickly refuses. Iinchou comes to help, and then they find a sign for a rescue service that costs 50 rabbits, and Hotaru comes up on a rocket goose and tells Mikan she can pay her back through manual labor.
Meanwhile, the other teachers are questioning Narumi on why he placed that new girl in Natsume's class..

damn some of these early 2000's animes are really bad at the 'hiding the plot in mystery' thing...
Episode 4 - This is My Alice
Hotaru uses her wacky inventions to save Mikan from the teddy bear... then she scolds her and tells her this place isn't so nice that she can have such a careless attitude towards everything... then they get attacked by a giant mutated chick... after barely escaping, Iinchou says they need Luca's help to calm all these angry animals. So he uses his Alice to lure Luca into the forest.
Luca refuses to help Mikan at first, but then Hotaru threatens to blowdart the chicken instead. "I don't mind, I like chicken meat."
Hotaru gets a picture of Luca playing with the tori, to threaten him into accompanying Mikan through the forest... Natsume seems pissed when he hears that Luca is helping her.
This is like the opposite of Mikan... is hiding his smiles for Natsume's sake... when Mikan hears that Natsume is here against his will and doesn't even want his alice, Mikan apologizes to Luca for insulting that guy...
Natsume comes and threatens Mikan to tell him what her alice is.. but instead of using his fire on Mikan herself, he only manages to use it on Iinchou and Hotaru... Mikan still can't figure out what her alice is, and the only thing she can do is run up to the raging Natsume and call him an idiot... he's about to unleash a strong attack against her, but she neutralizes it by pushing him over.
Then Narumi shows up, puts Natsume to sleep, and explains that Mikan passed by showing her neutralizing alice...
Hotaru: "So in short, Mikan has an alice that can only protect herself. A selfish alice that fits her perfectly."
Luca refuses to help Mikan at first, but then Hotaru threatens to blowdart the chicken instead. "I don't mind, I like chicken meat."

Natsume shows up to class the next day wearing a cat mask, and with a bruise on his neck... Narumi assigns him as Mikan's class partner, and Natsume keeps telling her she's an idiot for being so simple minded and trusting this school... Mikan notices the bruise..
later some Natsume fans set up a trick to make the teacher hate Mikan and she ended up getting assigned a no-star rank... Hotaru got back at the people who framed Mikan by "fixing" their item... the next day, Mikan stopped being whiny and started working hard to improve her lifestyle and move up from no-star. Hotaru came and reassured her that her star ranking means nothing and they are still the same people regardless.
later some Natsume fans set up a trick to make the teacher hate Mikan and she ended up getting assigned a no-star rank...
