Back to Ange... She woke up from being passed out at seeing her dead parents, along with 4 other corpses in the dining room... she goes around and discovers a total of 13 corpses that were murdered.
The next day, Gohda and Kumasawa are talking to the rest of them about when they discovered the 6 corpses... but the other people Ange discovered before weren't dead yet in this scene. It went through each twilight one by one... almost all of them were closed room murders, impossible without someone else on the island who had an extra master key or a way in and out of the closed rooms... It was very short and to the point, with a lot of rules made up about keys and such for simplicity...
I see... it's like another of those quizzes... I have to review all of the purple statements, keeping in mind rules such as... no character can lie except for the culprit/s... a culprit can't die... master keys carried by the servants are the only keys, and nobody but the servant can use their key... other rules making it possible to figure out the culprit from just the information given... first, I have to figure out who is definitely telling the truth, and who definitely died...
*Genji: (died at 1st twilight, according to Kuma, Nanjo and Kanon)
Eva: (died at first twilight, according to George (according to Shannon), and Kuma)
Hideyoshi: (died at first twilight, according to George (according to Shannon), and Kuma)
Rudolph: (died at first twilight, according to Battler (according to Shannon), and Kuma)
Kyrie: (died at first twilight, according to Battler (according to Shannon), and Kuma)
Rosa: (died at first twilight, according to Maria (according to Shannon), and Kuma)
*Krauss: everyone gathered in dining hall - dining hall is closed room - nobody is hiding in dining hall
(died at 2nd twilight, according to Nanjo) (narration: laying sprawled on the floor)
*Nats: we destroyed Genji's master key
(died at 2nd twilight, according to Nanjo) (narration: laying sprawled on the floor)
(all of the above were locked in the mansion after 2nd twilight, according to Jess, Maria, Nanjo
*Jess: 2nd twilight is a closed room - nobody can enter or leave 2nd room until police arrive - 4th all went outside to look for Shannon/Kanon - George couldn't have killed Shannon - Gohda/Kuma died
Cousins and Nanjo couldn't have killed Gohda/Kuma - Nanjo was killed - cousins couldn't have killed Nanjo.
(died at 8th twilight, according to George, and maybe Maria?) (narration: Jessica was lying on the ground, it was a gruesome corpse)
*Nanjo: nobody will mistakenly confirm a death - Krauss/Nats confirmed dead instantly - sealed entire mansion, went in guesthouse - Shannon confirmed dead - Gohda/Kuma confirmed dead instantly.
(died at 7th twilight, according to George, confirmed by narration)
George: nobody was hiding in dining hall - forced to acknowledge Shannon's death - 5th/6th guesthouse still locked up - Nanjo instant death - nobody in guesthouse could kill Nanjo - Jess died instantly - Maria couldn't kill.
(did not die, could have been a culprit)
Battler: nothing suspicious in dining hall - Nanjo checked deaths of Krauss/Nats - sealed dining hall - anyone besides George could have killed Shannon - anyone could have killed Gohda/Kuma
- Gohda/Kuma had the 2 remaining master keys - Nanjo didn't leave the guesthouse - cousins couldn't have killed Jess.
(did not die, could have been a culprit)
Maria: 1st twilight victims died instantly - duct tape over doors and windows of 2nd twilight room - 7th twilight everything is locked up perfectly - no way Jess could live through this - cousins couldn't have killed Jess
- George couldn't kill an adult, but could kill a kid
(did not die, could have been a culprit)
*Shannon: death of each parent confirmed by children - I unlocked 2nd twilight door - all servants together during 2nd twilight
(died at 4th twilight, according to Nanjo and George) (narration: a tragedy occurred)
*Kanon: Nanjo and I confirmed Genji's death - Krauss and Nats on the floor - all servants together during 2nd twilight
(died at 4th twilight, confirmed in red)
*Gohda: Dining hall was locked up - I unlocked the dining hall - 2nd twilight room was locked - 4th twilight nobody has alibi - destroyed Shannon's key
(died at 5th/6th twilight, according to Nanjo and Jess) (narration: a tragedy occurred)
*Kuma: arrived at dining hall after Gohda - Eva, Hideyoshi, Rudolph, Kyrie, Rosa, and Genji were there covered in blood
(died at 5th/6th twilight, according to Nanjo and Jess) (narration: a tragedy occurred)
(narration: Gohda's and Kuma's master keys were destroyed)
Oh man, I am stumped... I had to use a clue to figure out that the narration (text not spoken by any of the characters) can be trusted as red truth... and that lead me to learning that Nanjo and Jessica are definitely innocent... Which means Kuma, Gohda, Shannon, Natsuhi, and Krauss are also innocent, and Kanon is innocent because his death was confirmed by Bern's red truth... that's 9 characters who's purple statements can be trusted as red truth... but even still, I can't figure it out. Especially the paradox of how Gohda, Kuma, and Nanjo were killed in the locked up guesthouse, and Jess confirmed that none of the people in the guesthouse could've done it, and since all the servants who could've used a master key are already confirmed dead... I can only imagine there must've been a secret route into the guesthouse...
After that one hint about the narration, all the other hints were things I already knew... the culprit had to be among the ones killed in the first twilight... and whoever it was, their child had to be a culprit too, because they must've lied about confirming their death... I tried Rudolph, Kyrie, and Battler by chance, and got it right, before checking the hint that would give it away.
Meanwhile, Ange is running around, looking for someone on the island besides her who's still alive... She hadn't found Battler, George, or Maria's bodies yet. She found them, in a shed... But they couldn't see her, as if she was in a different world... George and Maria figured out that Battler and his parents must be the culprit... Then Rudolph/Kyrie show up, and they kill George and Maria. Battler even has an evil grin on his face...
Then some goats surround Ange, they mumble in eerie voices...
Battler is the culprit. Battler culprit theory. Battler's family culprit theory...At first, everyone had joined in on the Eva culprit theory. She got almost all of the wealth to herself, so the theory was only natural. However, when Eva died and left all her wealth to Ange... the public opinion created a new culprit theory... it was revealed in some magazines that Kyrie's family had close ties to a massive gangster organization... and the truth was also revealed about how Rudolf made a killing out of fraudulent business practices.
Goats dressed in uniforms from Ange's school start taunting her... a black cat then comes and talks to her, leading her around in circles while the goats chase her. A giant goat is about to bite Ange's head off, while telling her the Battler culprit theory... then suddenly, a blue and red flashes appear to slice the goats heads off...
Counter.... It's possible to form a logical theory other than the "Rudolf's family culprit theory". For example, a theory with George's family as the culprits is possible.
A "culprit" is defined as "one who murders". It never says that they have to murder someone who appears in the story... If George committed murder outside the island, sometime before this crime, he could be a "culprit" without killing anyone on the island, and it would be possible for him to lie.Erika was there, holding a large scythe...
How's that? This level of reasoning is possible for Furudo Erika.Erika says she has no time to deal with all these dumb goats who can only think of the Rudolf family culprit theory... you take care of the rest. A red spiderweb appears... Eva-Beatrice shows up.
You forget me... and you call HIM the ruler of Rokkenjima? You forget me, and you think Rudolf is the culpriiit?
Who forgets EVA Beatrice and calls themselves the murderer of Rokkenjima?! How impertinent! On this island, who lives and who dies is totally up to me!!Eva leaves before Ange gets a chance to thank her... she asks Erika why she saved her...
I am the Witch of Truth... The one who searches for the single truth. And... you're the same, aren't you?Erika explains to Ange that Battler showed her his version of the truth, with the halloween party...
Sometimes, other people will try to mislead us by claiming they know the truth... But a real Witch of Truth must continue to pursue the single truth without being led astray. That's why you can't accept the fake truth that Battler-san's trying to force on you. Then Bern appears and explains...
I can't tell you what the truth is. However, if it's a question of how the truth can be reached, I can show you the way.
I never said that what you saw was the truth.
B, but you used the red to...
You yelled out and interrupted, and stopped me from saying any more... This is all truth 'of a sort, but not necessarily true'. That's what I was about to say.Ange has to stop and think if she's truly ready to know the truth.
... I want to know the truth. But I want to hold out for a miracle that one of them will come back. Those two wishes contradict each other. By learning the truth, I'll be forced to accept that no one's coming home...
That's right... you're like Erika. A Witch of Truth, who will seek the single truth, undeceived by any illusions. The Witch of Truth, ANGE Beatrice, has the power to reach the truth... However up until now, she has been unable to use this power.
Thanks... The fragment you showed me in that dark theater... was there to open my eyes.
Meanwhile, Bern's game is being shared with everyone else at the party... Battler is having tea with Bern, saying that she's friends now, and they'll make up a game for her next time she's looking for an escape from boredom... Then Bern mentions to him, that her game isn't over yet...
If you really think this final game will be nothing but a happy epilogue... Then I'll have to invite you all to a proper game for bringing this tale to a close.
Battler. You forget things too easily. Don't you remember in whose hands lie the key to this final game...?Ange wakes up in Featherine's study... Bern brought her there... She explains that Ange's key is a physical manifestation of the decision she must make.
But Ange... you should've at least started to figure it out by now, right? There's an answer Battler wants you to choose...It's just like when Battler was the player and Beato was the game master... now, Ange is the player, and Battler is the game master... Ange then realizes, she tried to learn the truth by just following Battler.. that wouldn't be any different than Battler accepting everything Beato said about the crimes being the work of a witch...
I see... Bern hijacked the player side of this game, just like she did Beato's game...
Featherine/Hachijo brought Ange back to the human world, and brought out Eva's diary... it was found behind her hospital bed after she died... It's probably safe to assume this diary was used to forget things by writing them down and sealing them away, just like Natsuhi's diary... They could read it if they had the key... Ange looked down at her chest... but the key wasn't there.. it was with the "Ange" on the game board in the world of witches.
Back in the witch world... the diary wasn't there... Battler must've hidden it. Ange must think of any clues that might have shown where Eva's diary is in that world.
She remembers the chapel at the beginning of the game... a book laying on the altar, with a lock on it... as soon as she showed interest in that book, Battler told her not to touch it...
Featherine confirms in read that the book in the chapel is Eva's diary, and it contains the truth about October 4th and 5th, 1986.
to be continued...
