Febuary 1999 - Murder Speculation Part 2 -
Starts off wth a lot of pointless small talk... Then finally we get to some plot. Shiki and Mikiya pass by a TV showing something about the homicidal maniac on the news who is at his 10th murder so far... s this the same string of murders from movie 2 I wonder? They are both working for Toko now at this point. Shiki says this guy isn't really a killer, because none of these killings have any reason for them... She says that you can only kill once in your lifetime.
Shiki asks Kokuto to sleep with her.. the next day...
Toko:
What happened now and 4 years ago... Do you think it's Shiki?Kokuto admits that Shiki doesn't have any alibis... but he still believes that Shiki couldn't have done it. Toko explains that since SHIKI is no longer inside Shiki, that personality called murder is no longer inside her...
Just then, Kokuto sees on the news that another murder happened. he tries calling Shiki and going to her apartment, and can't find her... He runs back to that bamboo forest place where he saw Shiki at the crime scene 4 years ago, gets flashbacks of her empty eyes and weird smile...
Then it goes to another flashback from movie 2 in that same area, where Shiki is about to kill Kokuto.. it shows more of that scene... suddenly Araya pops in out of nowhere and starts fighting Shiki.
You can't kill me? Appropriate if you're trying to survive. But you're trying to kill so you can run away. Do not lower your own value... You belong to one person. Live as one, and conclude as one. The spiral of conflict is the appropriate end for you.Shiki notices something, like she's snapping out of a trance and switching personalities again.. She starts crying and running away, and Kokuto runs after her.. he eventually catches up and grabs her arm, and Shiki looks really sad and confused... then she runs away again and jumps in front of a car, probably to save Kokuto..
back to the present I guess... it's not being clear at all this time, not even showing the dates when it jumps around... Shiki is walking by herself in the rain, thinking about stuff... goes to take a shower, remembers the guy from movie 6 saying
I came to this country because Souren Araya requested that I return the memory that you lost in oblivioun two years ago. I shall play back the grief. Even if you forgot it, the memory is actually recorded inside of you.Kokuto runs into his dad, who tells him about a lead onto the killer involving back alley drug deals.. he goes to investigate random alleys and finds dead bodies, one of them carrying LSD... then finds a drug dealer who refuses to speak with him because he has "the red kind"... then he sees Shiki around the corner. he tries following her, but then he starts tripping out on the LSD. Meanwhile, Shiki runs into some shady guys who are about to kill her, but she kills them instead. so she is committing at least some of these killings...
He goes to find that female drug dealer again, she threatens him and asks what he wants with her... she says that she saw a girl in a kimono kill 4 guys with ease...
Toko seems to be doing her own investigating... she talks to (Kokuto's dad I think?) about the theory that this is the same person from 4 years ago... they both agree that these murders are very similar.
Then she gets philosophical thinking to herself.. about how these murders have gone closer to the business district and have cast a shadow over the city...
I don't know what you're looking for, but you can't illuminate your heart by yourself, Shiki. There's a scene of Shiki walking around in her old Kimono, saying that classic line about why she likes walking at night... Then it goes to Shiki wearing the red coat... Suddenly she finds someone dressed just like her, a blonde guy... They seem to know each other... He's convulsing really weirdly, like his body isn't human...
She manages to defeat him, and he complains that she isn't finishing the job... She's much different from 4 years ago. he explains that he left all those corpses that way so that she'd know it was him... He seems to know EVERYTHING about Shiki, including her origin and the fact that she is suppressing it..
Shiki just says she has no interest in him, she just wanted to confirm.. he gets mad... he threatens to kill "the reason for her to go back"...
Shiki slices his arm off, saying... "Kill who?"... That just makes him angrier.. he manages to get away, saying he'll definitely kill that person.
Kokuto breaks into the apartment of this killer... He has pictures of Shiki all over his wall, and a journal that reads a lot like what Kokuto was saying at the end of movie 2.
April 1995, I met her....
Why didn't anyone tell me the simple reality? That killing someone meant killing yourself too.
I realized that I need someone just like me, a lunatic.Kokuto is just calmly sitting there when the killer walks in and greets him.. they seem to know each other too... apparently this guy is connected to that Araya apartment complex he investigated?
Oh wait... is this guy, Lio Shirazumi, actually the guy that warned Kokuto about Shiki in movie 2? I almost forgot about that... Kokuto implies that he is resuming the crimes from 4 years ago... but this guy says he wasn't the serial killer then.
That was Ryougi Shiki's...
You're lying, Shirazumi.Lio explains that a devil named Araya awoke him to his origin of consumption... he is not killing because he wants to, only because he needs to... he keeps saying he wants to kill Kokuto, the only thing separating him and Shiki... but Kokuto manages to keep him under control the same way he did Shiki back then..
Later, Shiki calls Kokuto, telling him that's dangerous to go out and he should stay put. and she gets mad when he tells her he met Shirazumi... Shiki wants to kill him, but Kokuto thinks he can still be saved and it's wrong to kill somebody no matter how many people they've killed...
Kokuto asks Toko about what an "origin" is... she says something about following the string of reincarnations back to the source...
But life doesn't exist at that place. The only thing there is the starting factor. It's only a direction that determines things. This chaotic impulse is what magi call origin.Oh yeah... this scene from an earlier movie, where Araya awakens that man-eating killer to his origin... that's Lio Shirazumi.
Shiki finds Lio again and starts fighting him, but can't commit to killing him because Kokuto's words keep popping in her head... she gets captured by Lio, not killed, and has a dream about her memories of when SHIKI killed herself to save Kokuto.
To protect his dream of living happily... Mikiya Kokuto, the form of a dream that SHIKI liked. It was the first emotion besides murder for SHIKI, who only knew of murder. He did it so he could keep dreaming. So at the very least, I want him to remember SHIKI. I'm the dream SHIKI is watching.
Lio starts licking Shiki all over, sort of like in anticipation of eating her... they here Kokuto come in through a window, and Lio goes after him.. as Lio's drool dries up off of Shiki, she comes to her sense and realizes she needs to get out of here...
Oh yeah there's this weird plot about a special drug that Lio is using to try to find a "companion"... like, he says that anyone who can handle the drug would be suitable to be his companion or something... he stabs Kokuto in the leg and then forces him to take the drug...
The dose you just swallowed is ten times more potent than marijuana.w-where can I get this stuff?
Then he offers him to take that special red drug to save him... "Use it and come to this world yourself."
Kokuto refuses, and instead he tries to reason with Lio, saying that his true nature isn't a homicidal maniac, he's just running away from himself... or something. he finally snaps and stabs Kokuto in the face to kill him...
He's surprised to see Shiki out of her binds and coming toward him. She bit off her thumb in order to break free... but when Shirazumi tells her that he killed Kokuto, and gives her back the knife with his blood on it... Shiki breaks down and just stands there taking Shirazumi's attacks... finally she decides she can't forgive him for killing Kokuto... her emotions leak out in the form of murder...
I remember this next really long drawn out scene... Kokuto regains consciousness, can still see out of his one eye... manages to waddle his way over to Shiki... He's upset at her for killing Shirazumi, but he already said that he'll bear all of her sins... It ends by finally showing the title and date... February 1999 - Murder Speculation Part 2
